UAAC’s Free Tax Clinic

A community service initiative designed to assist individuals in preparing and filing their income tax returns at no charge. This clinic is particularly aimed at helping students, low-income individuals, and those who face barriers to accessing paid tax preparation services. Staffed by volunteer accounting students from the University of Alberta, who are trained and often supervised by experienced tax professionals, the clinic provides a valuable opportunity for participants to have their taxes filed accurately and efficiently.

By offering these services for free, UAAC’s Tax Clinic not only aids those in need but also provides a practical learning experience for accounting students, enhancing their tax knowledge and skills through real-world practice.

The initiative highlights UAAC’s commitment to community engagement and financial literacy, fostering a sense of social responsibility among future accounting professionals. It also facilitates networking opportunities, connecting students with professionals in the field and with members of the community. Overall, the free tax clinic represents a win-win situation: providing essential services to those who might otherwise be unable to afford them while offering valuable, hands-on experience to students preparing for careers in accounting and taxation.
